LS400 timing belt
Hey all
I am a new 95 LS400 owner and I just noticed a sticker on ma cars engine, in which it is written (timing belt 96k miles) which probably means tat the timing belt was changed during those mileage, and now ma car is on 225k miles..
1. Should I change the timing belt or It is ok to have it for some more mileage?
2. and I also wanna know if the timing belt breaks down in ma 95LS,, will it be risky to the engine or not? if yes then wat all damages will it cause?
3. And after wat miles the timing belt should be changed?
pls do help
thanx

I am going to be a contrarian here.
Please run it until it does break & let us know what happens & what it cost?
Now that would be informative!!!
My attempts to do just that in my non-interference 94 model LS were subtrafuged when the fan support bracket bearing failed @ 168,000+.
Granted a I had less to worry about.

Just had to replace the belt, and get a new water pump. The belt and pump were replaced around 90K, the SC has about 165K now. Had this happened on my other V8's, I would have been shopping for a new engine at that point.

PD,
If he is to lazy to search he could at least provide this small public service.
Too much to ask??
I know the answer as to what it would cost, I just want it to sink thru to the masses. I would not go past 120,000 on an adult driven UCF-20.
If I had no idea how it was driven before current ownership I would at the very least get a visual inspection from qualified personel.
