Default Went to the dealers yesterday, need some help so i could save $$$

they did a full inspection on my recently purchased 96 LS. most of the things i need are just maintenance (timing belt, water pump, all fluids flushed, valve covers, etc)...and I dont mind paying for that...BUT $302 dollars for a driver's door handle?? $292 for hood struts?? $107 for antenna mast?? thats over $600 dollars extra!!..so with that said, could i find a drivers door handle, hood struts, and the antenna mast elsewhere? i just checked ebay and they're pretty cheap but are they good quality? That timing belt is gonna cost me $$$$ so I need to save in other areas..

antenna is easy, bu are those prices parts only or parts and labor?

because ur best off buying a NEW drivers door handle (outside) because they list for ~300 and come painted for 95-00 cars.

none of the hood stuts and most of the masts are aftermarket.

the aftermarket door handle\s are cheap, but dont come painted as the OEM.

You can buy the hood struts wherever you want. I have read enough of the horror stories on here about bad struts, that saving a few dollars wasn't worth it.

I bought the OEM struts, total price was $165.00 given I want to keep my car for a while.

You will notice with all the maintenance your car needs, your "buying price" isn't as sweet as you have been posting everywhere about

Good luck.

well, $2000 for a timing belt, water pump, all new belts, thermostat, all fluids flushed, including transmission, valve cover gaskets, full tune-up, full dealer detail and more, all at the lexus dealership with guarantee seems OK to me. And my "buying price" was only mentioned once, referring to the person looking into buying a LS with 184K for $6800 or so. i dont think there was any bragging on my part, or posts everywhere

If your door handle is just halfway broken you can do something like this
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...ht=door+handle

costs $5 instead of $300

i'm really considering that. also i've seen some chrome door handle covers on ebay, might look good, and not cost me 300 dollars

I just bought new hood struts on ebay for $40 and installed them in 15 minutes. It now works perfectly. It very easy to change them out too.
