Transmission Flush
Today I had my transmission completely flushed with 25 quarts of fluid and replaced with new ATF Dexron Type 2. A new filter was installed also. It cost me $125.00 in San Pedro, CA at Toyota specialist.
I would recommended this to anyone who seems to be having the slightest sign of a transmission problem. My shifting was improved greatly especially in 3rd and 4th gears. Acceleration is smoother and shifting between P through L is softer and faster.
I'm now at 127,023 miles.
-Next is the expensive timing belt and water pump replacement. ;-(

If they flush it out with 25 qts. they did not take the transmission oil pan off. No new filter installed. You got F&*K royally. Also, they are Toyota speciallist and don't know about Toyota trans. Type T-IV
I don't remember exactly how many liters, but my shop manual read ~8-10 liters. Everytime you change the trans. fluid take the drain bolt off, only 2 liters drained. refill with 2 liters TOYOTA transmission Type T-IV. Shift your shift **** from park to L and back slowly. Check the level with the dip stick. Drive the car aroung the block or make sure the trans. is warm up (operating temp.) recheck the level, fill a little more if necessarily. DO NOT over fill.
1 qt is a little less than 1 liter. They really F*%K your car up.

So you think with a 25qt flush they didn't even change the filter? I know they dropped the pan because I watched them do it.
I called and told them what Lexus said about using Type IV and they said they would only charge me the amount for the fluid (like 30 bucks) to reflush.
You guys are scaring me. Does anyone think I should still drive it to work and back until Saturday? (about 80 miles)

Watch them closely this time also to see how they flush out the dexron. You need to know for sure that all dexron trans. oil is out.
FYI, I paid $20+ a can of 4 liters Type T-IV from Carson Toyota.
with the pan drop the capacity is 8.2 liters or 8.7 qts that's is more than two cans of type T-IV and they charge you $30?????
Better check the can to see it read Toyota ATF Type T-IV You really want them to fush it real good this time. 25 qts of type T-IV sound good too me. With new filter also.
I can't tell you about driving another 80 miles. My understanding about Toyota fluid for LS/SC400 transmission is that is provide a smooth shift.
After this, change the trans.oil every 15K miles by loosen the bolt, let the oil drain out and refill. Its take about 2 qts each time. You can do this yourself.
Good Luck
