Hi all,

I am "ruby". I love my 91 LS400 with 300,000 miles on it. The starter went out last week, it'll cost us around $700. It's an old car and I expect to have work done on it. So far we have replaced: brakes, ball joints, tires,ac not sure what was done but it's cold as ice, and now the starter.

I have an oppurtunity to have a 93 Camry with 20,000 miles. This is somewhat of a no brainer with gas prices the way they are and all.

BBBUUUUTTTT, how can I give up the best car I have ever had? It runs like a dream. Who in their right mind would want an old car with 300,000 miles on it? Besides myself.

And not to be a snob or anything (and not wanting to anger anyone but I checked Kelly Blue Book and if I am correct my *old*car is worth 4-5K, the Camry with 20,000 miles is worth around 12K. Would I still be able to get that much if the Camry was oh I don't know, 16 years old. Would it still be running at 300,000? OK, I know Lexus is made by Toyota.

I guess I am in need of some major sympathy cause no around here seems to understand why I love my Lex so much.

My dear sweet husband has said I could get some new kitchen applicances with the money but honestly I spend more time in my car than I do cooking up a gourmet meal. Who needs a new dishwasher when you have 3 perfectly good dish washers here at home.

Sigh....when it's all said and done, how can I keep a car that costs money to fix everytime? My honey works hard for the money.

lol 2 night ago i looked online and a guys lexus 90' with 389000 iles was going for over 2000 dollars so yea id say yours is worth that much and i would never sell it the 1UZFE in that will last at least another 100000 or more and is deafintly worth it to keep it and put more money into the lexus.

My vote is to keep the Lex. $ 700 for the starter is less than $ 12K for the Camry not to mention that you won't love the Camry like you do your Lex

I agree, stick with the lexus. I had an attachment to my first car which got totalled, I nearly cried when I finally sent the stripped shell to the junkyard.

Since I got my 93 LS, I know I will never want to sell this car, ever.

Stick with what you're comfortable with. Just because it's a newer car with less miles does not mean it will necessarily suit all of your 'needs'

Find a local Lexus Toyota mechanic and have it changed for $200 plus the starter.

keep the lex. she'll still be runnin strong even with minimal maintenance. Keep her till something really big goes.

a 20k camry sounds amazing though. Did i read this correct though $12,000? for a camry? You can get an 02+ for that money.

I'd say keep the lex! From what it sounds like you want to keep it anyway. It's best to go with whatever makes you happy.

What about selling the old lex and moving up to 98-00 model?
That would make you forget the word camry.
