Grease in Diagnosis connector
Hi
I am trying to pull Check Engine codes from a 1993 LS400
when I opened the sealed engine diagnosis grey lid to jumper the connector I found gobs of grease inside every pin, as if someone had delibertely put a gob of grease into all the pins of the connector?
The car has only been servied by Lexus, why would they put grease in the connector? Is this some type of fix or a scam they are trying to pull
My check engine light is on, I wanted to jumper TE1 and E1, do I first get all the grease out of each pin slot?
Any Advice?

Yes, what the DRIFTER said. Also, little understood characteristic...the grease actually IMPROVES the quality of the connection when you plug somthing in. I know it sounds crazy. The silicon grease that you put on your sparkplug boot...the stuff that is the fantastic insulator...same stuff improves the contact of metal that actually touches, such as connectors. I verified this with extremely sophisticated laboratory equipment when the data was first published back in the 70's.
Put silicone grease in your trailer connector and you will have no corrosion problems. The stuff specifically designed for this purpose is more viscous.
