I have a chance to get 2001 LS430 wheels with Dunlop 225-55-17's on them. These are awesome wheels and tires. Can anybody tell me if they will definitely fit on my 1992 LS400??

It should fit, but double check from the lexus dealer on that. Remember that the 92 was designed to ride with 15's. If you put on 17's the car will sit up very high. It will look like a toyota camry on steroids.
If you have the air suspension, let me know so I can tell you how to lower the car.

Ok, I had a 92 LS a ways back and I lowered it succesfully...
Turn the wheel all the left. Look on the front driver's side, where the steering components of the car connect to the wheel. Then, look for a thin metal bar, about the size of a pencil. On the bar, you will see screws at the ends of it. Loosen those screws and turn the bar itself. If you have the car on, you will notice the suspension lowering and raising itself. The tricky part is to make sure that all 4 sides are even. After you get everything to the height you want, drive the car and bounce the shocks, turn the car on and off, and on again. Look at your suspension, the front will probobly sit a little lower than the rear, readjust, repeat the test drive and you should be all set.
Questions? Or if my explanation was not clear enough, I'll help you guys out.
Hint; You have to loosen all 4 screws before you turn the bar. Loosen one side at a time by holding one screw with a pair of vice grips, and turning the other with a wrench.
Now post some pics!

It will work if you find that bar that I'm talking about.
You'll love it. The handling is awesome in sport mode, dare I say, better than my 98 GS400!
The total adjustment is 5 inches. In other words, you can drop your car 2.5 inches or raise 2.5
Best of all, on rough roads, press the "high" button and the ride car will rise to normal mode.

Yes those wheels will fit, the rolling diameter is close enough that it won't change either the appearance or any vehicle functions.

 thats whoa... thanks for tha 411 on the air suspension gs4to4. i have a couple of personal questions. i have a '90 LS 400 equipped with air suspension and im having trouble finding the bars. this might sound stupid but should i take my wheels off and then maybe i'll see it? is the pencil size metal bar sitting vertical or something? is black or gray? if you could help me with my confusion i would deeply appreciate it.oh by the way should i put suspension to normal mode and height to normal mode before i do this? thanks again

LspinoY- It's been a long time since I sold my LS, but here are few things I remember... The color of the bar, hmmm I think it was gray, and its thinner than a pencil . Anyways, the bar has threads on both sides of it, with nuts on both ends.
If you put the suspension in "high mode" while you are working on the car, it will give you more room to work with. If you can't find the bar, look around the back wheels and maybe you'll see it. Maybe removing the plastic cover that covers the bottom of the car will reveal it better. Still can't find it? Go to lexus parts dept., and ask them to pull up all of the suspension parts on the computer and look for the bar there.
Lowering the car will not damage the shocks or mess anything up, but it will increase suspension wear because you will be hitting bumps harder. Overall, its a must for the LS, the car looks hot lowered.
