Hello all,
I am new to these boards.
My brother recently purchased a '95 ES300, and both he and I love it!
I am interested in a LS400, and found a lightly damaged one, with 46000 miles for 10000 dollars!
The body work including parts, paint and labor is only 2800 dollars worth!
Well anywho,
I was very close to purchasing a '94 Q45 today, and then I thought it over, and decided Id wait, and find out more about the Q45 line.
Ive always wanted one, until recently, when I fell in love with the '95 LS400.
So, I come here, to be educated, and read some opinions, on which one you people would choose.
Everyone refers to the Q45 as the "Rocket" because of its massive 280 HP!
Well, Id appreciate any input.

LS400 HANDS DOWN!!!!!
I owned a 95 q45 and sold it to buy a 96 LS.
Ls is better in EVERY way except pure power -- Luxury, room quality etc.
ESPECIALLY RELIABILITY -- my q was a piece of junk compared to the 93 Maxima it replaced -- I figured just a higher quality and more luxurious Maxima -- WRONG!!!!!
I'm telling you nothing but trouble -- injectors -- front end -- air conditioning and something in the rear axle -- I only owned it for 1.5 years and sold it with 55k -- piece of junk. And believe me -- Infiniti is not interested in problems with a 5 year old car -- of course unless you want to pay them a gazillion dollars.
Had the Lexus now since January and with 62k runs and looks like new -- literally -- NOT 1 PROBLEM(Except seatbelts in front which were replaced FREE of charge BY LEXUS).
good luck

eek u were even cosidering the q45?
lol..I believe that your gonna get a biased opinion by coming here but hey ill tell u anyways. The 2nd generation lexus' i believe have 260 horses under the hood. Granted the throttle response in the q45 is more responsive, but if your planning to keep your LS for a while, in turn join our topics in our forum, one way or another, these goofballs are gonna recommend that you change your intake, ecu get a torque convertor , which will eliminate that discrepency Also, you get better gas mileage than the Q45 because of the smaller engine size. So when u consider such things as reliability, mileage, dependability, appearance, quietness, top speed and so forth the LS is numero uno

Iran welcome to clublexus. All of us are going to say pick the LS400 becuase it is better.
Well to tell you the truth is,not because this is a Lexus forum, but it is truly better.Believe us.
Yes,we goofballs will help you on the throttle reponse for the LS if you feel for more power.
The Q might have 280,but nissan hp is overrated,i bet you the LS could out run it with it's 260hp.
Your decision should be the LS.

Well, the 95 LS400 was the mark of the 2nd gen cars. The received more power with less weight and more interior room and dual control A/C.
The 90-96 Infiniti Q45 had a larger engine but weighed more. Performance was very similar to second gen LS400s with the 90 Q being the quickest. Here are some 0-60 and 1/4 mile numbers from a web site.
1990 Infiniti Q45 7.2 15.4
1993 Infiniti Q45 7.5 15.6
1994 Infiniti Q45t 7.2 15.4
1995 Infiniti Q45t 7.9 16.2
1995 Lexus LS 400 7.4 15.5
1998 Lexus LS 400 6.3 14.8
I went to HRP in my 96 LS400 and went 15.4 @ 91mph

Its not at all that the Infiniti is a bad car, for that year though I'd have to go with Lexus as well, Nissan didnt quite have their act together yet. If you were shopping betwen the LS430 and 02 Q though, the choice would be a good bit harder.
In all honesty though, head on over to www.freshalloy.com's Q45 forum and see what they think
