check engine light
please help when key is turn to on check engine does not come on.only when car is running light comes on/ black smoke from tail pipe at idle when reved up car won"t go past 3000rpm keeps skipping

Go to any Autozone or discount Auto parts, they will read your codes for free.
Pull out the negitive battery terminal for 15mins, and see if it resets anything. Sounds like your running rich for some reason. Could be an ECU problem, or an actual mechanical issue.

check engine light
1993 ls400/215,000 miles when turn key to on check engine won"t come on what could be causing this/any other way to get codes. hard starting/black smoke at idle./pedal to floor car barely moves/at 3000rpm skipping
