Without a doubt, even moreso.

The interior melting will be the least of your worries with a Chevy.

sticky dash and door panels only seem to affect the early ones. they haven't had a problem with that since the refresh. nothing subpar about the Ls460 interior. even the generic parts bin rearview mirror STILL feels well made. ive been in plenty of 7-series interiors. the old ones from the 90s were solid but the current crop feels cheap inside with lots of plastic, including that playschool-plastic grade electronic shifter, which I hate and feel like im going to break every time I handle one. the BMW &-series interior could pass as a Honda accord.....

Yeah, these new interiors sure are crap!

It takes 38 days by hand to make one Shimamoku LS460 steering wheel. No craftsmanship there lol

they look good, but the material cost less then the previous gs and ls modles , the older modles had much more money put into the type of materials made for the interiors.

just an example the pre 98 ls and gs dash and headliner material compared to the present modles.

Could you elaborate? Where and how did you obtain this info?

What evidence do you have that this is the case? Where have you seen the cost of these materials? You haven't, you're just assuming that.

I have owned an LS400, and LS430 and this LS460. Have you? I'm not just making this up, I've had all 3. The material quality by and large in the LS460 is just as good or better than what was in the LS430 and LS400. The LS400 has an injection molded dash, the LS460 has stitched leather on the entire lower dash and whole door panels. The LS400 had a leather insert in the door panels and the armrest was leather. The LS430 and LS460 have a lot more wood trim on the interior than the LS400 did, my LS460 has real metal trim, the LS430 and LS400 did not. The headliner material in my LS460 is much nicer than what was in my LS400. The LS400 had vinyl A/B/C pillars, the LS460 has padded velour. My LS430 has the alcantara headliner which my LS460 does not, but thats a $500 option on the 460. My 430 was a UL so it had leather on the lower doors and the lower dash, but my LS460 has that and its a base model, a base LS430 was all injection molded vinyl in those areas.

What you're saying is just not the case.

As for the GS, the 4GS interior is way better than any GS interior before it.

I think in term of driving experience, 460 is better than 430. In terms of craftsmanship and material, I am happy with both 460 and 430. I think the reason you find more stitching on the interior is because it is the fashion and lots of high end cars are doing it now. 400 and 430 would have more stitching on the leather if that was the fashion and more cars were doing that at that time.

I find the wrench in the toolbox in 430 is more heavy duty than the one in 460. The plastic/spring on cup holder is already broken in front of the central arm rest.

I was riding in LS400 and Mercedes S500 in 1995 and I find S500 is more stable.

Melting door panel is definitely not just a Lexus thing. My brother has a 2012 550i and his door panels are horrible. The handle area is so bad you can't even touch it. He contacted BMW corporate and they immediately told him no. I have a 2010 LS460L with less than 35k miles and had that issue with the driver side panel. No where near as bad as my brother or any other I have seen in person or on clublexus but within a week they approved to have it replaced. They even had my service advisor at Lexus of Tampa Bay inspect the other panels and decided they would replace the passenger side as well. They said the noticed some discoloration on the arm rest part. Do I notice it...no lol but I am not going to complain. Driver side was replaced a couple weeks ago and waiting on the passenger side to come in. They even filled up my tank. A++ to customer service from me.

My 7 series had interior issues as well. One of the biggest things was the ***** that had the finishes rubbing off of them. The steering wheel leather dye was rubbing off and scuffing, and some of the door panels and plastic trims where the finish was also scuffing and rubbing off. I can honestly say that my LS after nearly 10 years is nearly as new looking as day one.
