Default Brake Issue? Also Q about Control Arms Issue..

I've noticed when coming to a stop.. slowly, like creeping up to a stop sign, or in traffic.. There seems to be a light pulsation. Very slight, but it's there. I'm hoping it's just the rotors or pads, but can someone that had the brake control module issue describe what the issue *feels* like? This car had the "ABS/Brake Motor" replaced at a Lexus dealer as warranty in 2011.

On the same topic, how would I observe if I have the control arms issue? It seems the car "feels" more on the road than I might expect from a car of this caliber. Some of that was tire overinflation (since corrected) but what should it *feel* like going over small bumps? I had this impression that I should have VERY good small bump compliance, no?

My brakes do the exact same thing. I will be replacing my rotors and pads in the coming months, so Ill see what happens.

Keep me posted, Mr. Frog

Hey, since you seem like a Guru, may I also ask if this year (2009) was the "autocorrecting clear coat" paint or not? Can't seem to find a clear answer on this topic.

Also, would I be able to visually inspect the bushings on this vehicle to check for crushed bushings? Or, is this something best diagnosed by a shop?

Pulsation when braking is usually from warped rotors...excessive lateral runout or parallelism. The problem is it can be difficult to isolate of its coming from the front or the rears. If the steering wheel shakes a little bit when braking it's most likely the front. And on some cars you can pull up on the ebrake handle and feel it through the handle (rears). Of course I wouldn't try the ebrake trick on our cars, lol.

Yeah, thx DoubleBase.. It's most likely rotors. The car has 60k on it, so very likely it needs a simple brake job (pads/rotors). THAT I know I can do....

Someone warned me about jacking up the car..where's the proper place to do that and put jack stands? The OM only shows the jack points for the built-in emergency jack.

There's a mount under the engine for jacking. As for the rear, you can jack on the differential. Those are the proper jack points.

There's a spot under the engine for jacking? I'll have to look for that. Personally I lift it at the frame by the exhaust (O2 sensor area) in the front. As for the back I use the pinch weld lifting points. I find the pinch welds areas to be a pain because they don't allow for much clearance between the ground effect and plastic insulation under the car. And I'm talking about using a regular double post lift, not a floor jack. But I'd definitely be interested about the spot under the engine...it'd come in handy if I were to use a floor jack.

RoadFrog- are there pictures you know of anywhere that show these jack points, specifically?
