Do my brakes need attention soon?
Hi folks,
I have been soaking up the info on dealer prices for replacing rotors, pads and sensors, and aftermarket parts on the other Brakes thread. I am wondering if I need to plan for a brake job in the near future. I am attaching the relevant service history for my car (48K currently). Briefly, front pads and sensors were replaced exactly one year ago, rotors were turned. Nothing done on rears. At PPI in Feb, NJ Lexus noted rear brakes need attention. In March, St. Louis Lexus says everything is OK. I have no issues at present (pulsation, squealing etc.).
1) Will I be needing to replace rear rotors and pads soon? I don't want to wear out the pads so much that the sensors have to be replaced too. I have a scheduled service with Lexus this week and will ask them to check all brakes.
2) When I do have the rear brakes done (hopefully St. Louis Lexus will be reasonably priced), should I consider replacing the front rotors?
Thank you very much for your insights and advice!

Standard service intervals usually include a full inspection of the car.
At the time they weren't needed but I would think hard about replacing soon after getting word you are at 4/16 and urgently if at 3/16 due to those overpriced sensors.

You provided a lot of background info, but it is hard to provide definitive advice to you. From what I can see, you probably should to replace the rear pads, but probably not the rotors. I know the dealer says they don't need to be replaced, but it is a cheap job. I just bought new Akebono ceramic rear pads for $50 from the place for brakes. You've got 48K and maybe they last to 60K, but why chance blowing the sensors when the cost is so low? It doesn't seem like you need to do anything on the fronts.

My time and resources (a space to do it that isn't 110* hot) remove this option from me.
When I can borrow a loaner for a nice long weekend and come back to a fresh set of brakes.
