Default Custom Tag Plate

For anyone who has to display a tag on the rear of their vehicle and can't a good way to place I decided to make my own. Here in Hawaii we are required to have a "Safety Check" completed annually where they look infractions like, no ins, illegal tint, blue lights/bulbs etc. Even though my tag didn't expire for 9 months I wanted it moved so I went in for a new now after the bracket was made. I used 1/4" Plexiglas to create a full plate that was slightly oversized so I could quarter round it to look clean. After rounding the edges I sanded and buffed it to a gloss black. I think it came out pretty good.

Original oversized stainless plate on the lower edge of bumper (at least the dealer didn't stick it on the bumper!)

Completed inspection on new bracket:

That's BS. Even in regulation-happy California, other than the emissions test, we don't have this.

Nice custom bracket, however. Well done!

Damn! I absolutely love how clean that bracket is! Way way way better than where you had it previously! Good job man!

Btw, I also agree Scrutator that I thought we had it bad here in Cali.... apparently not.

Two comments.

#1. It's stupid to place the plate under the rear bumper. I have to believe many cars end up having them mutilated or ripped off from going up steep driveways.

#2. Start manufacturing your solution. You could make a small fortune with those in Hawaii.

#1 I agree! aside from looking silly, they are are prone to being torn off or stolen but they did start imprinting the plate and VIN on each sticker.

#2 The thought has crossed my mind!

Good eye sniper! I added that emblem prior to my custom plate. I thought about a short tutorial since it seems many have trouble installing emblems, stickers etc.

Yes if you have time make a video. That is if you have time in between your patients.
