Plastic Underside cover - do I really need it?
My RIGHT FRONT FLOOR COVER 53882-50032 fell off - plastic guard panel for the car bottom.
I just wonder whether this warrants replacement - just hate spending $117 for a piece of plastic.
I do understand that the car will become more susceptible to dirt...
Thank you for the advise

I was going to say fuggedaboudit, but after reading CJITTY's response, I agree ...... replace it.

Treat the car right and replace it. .don't be cheap. It helps with aero dynamics, protects from road debris and wind noise reduction. .replace it..go on ebay because they have parted out LSs..junkyards etc

I know there are plastic fuel lines that run along the driver side that are exposed, my panel caught the edge of the garage floor and snapped the panel loose because my driveway is steep drive up into the garage. I switched sides with the wife to avoid that again, I asked my tech just remove it and he told me about the plastic fuel lines so he fixed it without me having to buy a new one.

My plastic fell off on my last LS (LS430), and not only was there significant dirt all over the engine compartment, but there was also a noticeable 2-3 mpg loss from the aerodynamic benefit of this piece.

Dear all,
Thank you for the advice. Just purchased the new part for $78 - unfortunately the ebay one was not available already. I usually do treat my baby right - but the staggering price for a piece of plastic just dampened my generosity for a moment.
Trying not to be penny-wise here.
Best to you,
Mike

$78 part for a $80K+ car is not terrible...in fact, it's not even something that should be stressed with what that piece of plastic will offer you long term..just sayin
