Default LS 460 overfilled by one quart - how bad is it?

I went to a dealer for an oil change about a month ago, they filled my 2007 LS460 up to a normal level.
A week ago checked the oil at 20F outside and cold engine - almost dry dipstick.
Added one quart of oil, it returned to normal levels.
Checked again today, way past the max line on a dipstick, although the oil levels are smudged on a dipstick, no clear reading no matter how many times I retried.
The ultimate question, would it hurt the car to have 10 qts of oil where only 9qts were intended?
Do I need to drain the extra quart?
Thank you in advance for your feedback.

PS. In hindsight, at such cold temperature I should have warmed up the engine.
But what is done is done.

No, no need to drain out the extra oil. The oil pan can easily handle the extra quart. And presuming you used synthetic, you won't get any foaming.

I had this happen to me on my Harley once, but the cause was different. The oil reservoir sits above the engine crankcase and after prolonged non-use, i.e. the winter, the oil drains from the reservoir into the engine. So when you check the oil dipstick in the reservoir, it looks like you are low on oil.

I geuss that's why you should always check the oil level after the car has warmed up for a while

Default Thank you

Thank you for the response.
When you read horror stories on how that extra quart can push the seals and create permanent leaks.
If you need only 4 quarts, then one extra will represent 20% of extra oil.
In LS460 case the figure drops to 10%.
And of course, it was synthetic original Toyota oil - I have never seen conventional 0W20.
Warm regards.
Mike
