Default What's a Good Price on a 2009 LS460 with Low Miles?

Found a 2009 LS460 with 13K miles, NAV, and extended warranty.

Go to Edmunds and price it out with all the options. That will tell you what you should be paying, although they have no entry for an extended warranty. You will have to factor that value in yourself.

Question Great Idea Suggesting Edmunds...

I ran the Edmunds.com Private Pricing and Trade-in models with respective options and it calculated:

Outstanding
Private Party = $50,681
Trade-in = $47,877

Clean
Private Party = $49,161
Trade-in = $46,377

That's a range between from $46K to $51K...I think it will insult my friend given their asking price of $56K...

What would you offer based on the above or does the above not reflect the current state of the economy (i.e. cash is king and used cars dont hold up like the pre-2008 financial melt-down days)???

TIA

Certainly its not intentional, but you could consider being insulted by your friend by thinking you would so over pay him for the car. Clearly he has an unrealistic view of what his car is worth.

If I were you I'd just tell him something like you are not sure you want to buy right now and let him see what offers he gets out in the open market.

As an aside, personally I would neither buy nor sell a vehicle, house, boat, or other significant item from a friend I wanted to keep!

Be honest with him and show him some comparables printed out and let him know your range is $45-$50 Grand. If he's your friend he should appreciate the time you took to look at what the car is really worth! Plus it should show him you are a serious buyer!

What options does it come with could also be a factor!

Smile Armed with the data....

Nospinzone and JSTALEX

Thanks for the wise councel...information is power...I have printed the trade-in values and private party recommendations with the options.

The only options are NAV and cooled seats...the minor concern is that it doesnt have ML sound...hoping I can add a subwoofer and enhance sound quality/performance

I will be interesting to see were the conversation goes!

If the negotations go south then it wasnt meant to be and I am good with that...

Before you commit to a non-ML Lex, I suggest you search the very topic discussed here on this forum. Seen people who had been in the exact situation and they got the car but regret the purchase afterwards.

Point is, aftermarket sound systems may or may not the best option since the decision is on your hands now. Avoid other people's mistakes!
