Advice on 2014 LS460 purchase? Thanks.
I agreed to purchase an L-Certified 2014 LS460 AWD for $50K with about 8,000 miles.
Was this a fair price (there are no other options I see in this car)? (I liked its low mileage.)
The Carfax looks clean, with 1 owner, FWIW.
What should I check out on arrival? Thanks in advance.

Ask for your copy of the CPO inspection sheet - there is one for the buyer although few dealers will provide it (you can imagine why).

Plug in all the particulars at Edmunds, NADA and KBB and that will give you an idea if your price is in the ballpark.

While the mileage is certainly good. Just for yuks and giggles, I would take a test drive and go to CarMax and see what they would offer for the car. Given it most likely will have a dealer plate, they might not do it, but they well might in hopes in trying to sell you one of their cars.
As for optioning, I would imagine most 2014's come comprehensively equipped as is. $50,000 seems mighty high for a 3 year old car considering just how low the sales numbers are for latter year LS460's. The CPO part certainly adds both to the asking price and to the resale value. Most valuation services have a box for CPO.
With the 460's about to be discontinued, I can only imagine just how much they are discounting 2017's and even better unsold 2016's. You well might be able to get a brand new 2016 for around the same money.
I am actually seriously considering getting either a 2015 or 2016 myself as I really do love my 2007 and with the LS500 ditching the V8, it makes me want it that much more. I would really like an LC500, but I am guessing there is little to any discount to be had on those.

Well, thanks for the replies. There were others around in a radius of about 200 miles from me for around $45,000 like a CPO with 35K miles and a non CPO with 25K miles also for $45,000, so I thought this was a good deal.
I also spent a lot of time on ebay motors and saw several for around $40,000, but these all had around 40K miles and most were not CPO. So that's why I got this one. I *love* low miles.
Thanks again for everyone's input.

As a serial "car buyer" (my wife hates me for it), I firmly believe if you're happy with the car, don't bother questioning it. The LS is one of the few cars that I actually smile every time I get in, that is priceless. Be it a $15k LS or a $90k LS, I'd rather buy a great car at a good price than a good car at a great price...if that makes sense.

KBB says the trade-in value of a 2014 LS460/AWD w/8000 miles is around $42,000.
Edmunds actually seems high to me, with a clean condition one being $51,000 from private party and $57,000+ as a certified one from a dealer.
Are KBB and Edmunds accurate or do they trend high?
So is $50,000 for an L/Certified one fair? Thanks.
(I looked all through Autotrader and don't see something comparable offered just by eye. Thanks.)

$50k for a certified car with only 8k miles seems good to me. Here's one I was looking at - non-certified, from a Toyota dealer for $48.5k - http://www.toyotaofbowie.com/used-20...owie-MD/v/8530
Most of the 2014s I've seen are in the high 40s to low 50s, depending on options. The one above has the Mark Levinson system and semi-aniline leather, which are must-haves for me.

That LS460-L AWD in Bowie is a real beauty and also seems like a great price to me. Good luck!
I'm not sure how valuable the certification is with Lexus; it's just peace of mind for me. It helped a lot with a Mercedes I once bought (several repairs covered on it, even through the extended warranty I bought).
I have not heard the Levinson sound system. Is it nice?
I just like the fact that I feel my car with 8000 miles and with certification is essentially new (or at least that's how I see it, maybe I should be corrected).

For comparison sake, i got mine - a 2014 SWB AWD with obsidian and grey interior, semi aniline/ comfort package/ NO ML with 19K miles for $46,000 It is NOT CPO and i decided NOT to get extended warranty (VSA plat) It is still covered until 2018/ 50,000 miles should i change my mind... Good luck!

Thanks aw001 for that update. I appreciate it. How's the car? Any problems? I guess mine will be covered until April 2019 with any mileage according to the L/Cert program. I hope it's bumper to bumper, but it's hard to figure out all that fine print.
