Seat belt buzzer annoyance... any way to disable it like in the 3GS?
I just sold my 2006 GS430 to pick up a 2007 LS460. So far I have no complaints.
First off: I am NOT condoning driving without a seatbelt. Merely asking a question.
In my gs430 I can go through a series of commands to disable the seat belt buzzer from beeping while i drive without a seat belt. I've browsed the forums and haven't seemed to find the same thing for the LS460.
Anyone know if it's even possible it to disable it without having the dealer reprogram?

Dealer only for 07-09..i had mine done and its great. I wear my seatbelt all the time, but it helps when you are driving in a parking lot or something or when someone gets in your car and you drive off before they I are situated. think the 10+ models can be controlled by driver in personal settings

Ive had them program my LS460 where touching driver door handle unlocks all doors, not just driver door. They did this for no charge.
If you don't have a relationship with the dealer my guess is that they would charge you 30 minutes labor, perhaps $50-$60 or so.
For an example, My dealer charged me $60 to program 3 extra keys I bought from Sewell Lexus for my SC430.

The other day I found my car with a dead battery (Lexus, 1 1/2 yrs old!) and it took me a couple days to replace it. I was worried I'd lose the seat belt chime setting but it didn't revert to default so I don't have to take it back.
Interestingly, I lost my seat position memories and the clock needed to be reset, but my radio station presets stayed along with my phone memories.

I know hardware interfaces of varying capability to the OBD-II port are widely available (check Amazon). Most are "read-only" gizmos that record vehicle data over a shorter or longer period. Others have internal GPS so routes and speed limits can be checked (teenage driver monitoring) and coming soon from your friendly insurance company to check on YOU. There is, I believe, a third kind that has the ability to program the vehicle given, as you said, the right software. A subscription is required from some few hundred to thousands of dollars which would seen to make casual use cost-prohibitive. That said, perhaps some of the larger regional Lexus owners' clubs could make us of the system to provide ready customization for its members.
