Default I Need Tires!!!!

Any good recommendations for tires. 235/50/18. I'm not one of those guys who drive superfast just want a smooth ride and something that will last a good while 50,000 would be nice! Seen some Vogue Tires , had a great rating. Bout a $100 per

Pirelli Cinturato P7 Plus. I and several others have them and are very satisfied.

These are more than $100 each, but they are perfect for the 460. I had 'em on my '05 STS V8 (the rear wheel drive one), twice. Loved 'em.

I have the Squirelli P7s on my car right now, and I hate them...with a passion.

Sure, I'm not eager to drop over a grand on new shoes, but I can't wait until the ones I have hit the wear bars. Plus, I'm going to a five tire rotation.

5 Pages of reading on the Pirelli P7's I have them and 99.9 percent of us who do have them love them. Kelly is the first person I have read who does not like them.

What do you hate about them? That's the first negative reaction I've seen.

I've put 25k on mine and they have been great, lots of life left too.

I wouldn't put an ultra high performance tire on the LS. On a GS, those would be great tires.

I have to admit, for a land yacht, I drive it aggressively (sometimes).

I've found the Pirellis lacking in the wet and rather 'meh' in the dry.

The DWS is referred to as an "ultra high-performance" tire, but tires meeting that definition do not have treadwear ratings of 500+.

Those, however, do rock the casbah in the rain, are very quiet, yet remarkably sticky.

From a handling perspective I might see that if you're driving aggressively. Grip wise I have no issues with mine wet or dry, the OP said he doesn't drive fast and is just looking for a good quiet long lasting tire.

There is more to the difference between an UHP tire and a grand touring tire than just treadwear.

I had the Contis on my BMW 530 and my IS250. They were excellent tires but barely made their treadwear lifespan.

Thanks for all the great comments. You're right I don't want to mortgage the farm for some tires. But I do want to set that is quiet and last a little while. I'll look into those Perelli's. Right now I have Dunlap sport signatures they ride really good.

Harry

I got mine off Tire Rack. I think these tires stick like super glue in the heavy rain.

The P7's are a great tire. So are the Michelins Premeir LTX's at that size. The Michelins will perform a little better overall but will also wear slightly faster. The Michelins do have superior braking performance as the tire wears. I would go for the V rated series either way.

I thought the LTX was an SUV tire?

They label it as a crossover / SUV tire because of the size. It's an all season cruiser with really good snow / ice performance. Better then the P7's but probably a bit more rolling residence. If you experience more snow conditions I would pick the Michelins. If not then the Pirelli.

They are crossover tires. I personally would pass on them for that reason.

Prior to the Pirelli P7 I had the Continental Purecontact Ecoplus. They may be the best tire for you considering the ride you want and the life of the tire. Although another member bought them on my recommendation and had a terrible time with them and had to return them. I suspect that he just got a defective set.

Prior to the Contis I had Pirelli P Zeros. They were by far the best handling in the rain. However, if it matters to you, they are noisier and not as long lasting.
