I appreciate the info. Once I get around to it I'll experiment and see if I get similar results!

Well, the brake pedal noise returned, though not as aggressively. Took a couple of months of 60 mi. day driving, however.

Well...I'd consider that a great experimental period and a small success in a way that you were able to determine on a small scale, that the issue is possibly electrical/power-source related. Now im curious to know if you were to do the same thing you originally did to rid the actuator of the noise, if the noise would disappear again for a time, or if your short term remedy extracted the remaining "resolve" from the actuator, and it is no longer able to operate noise-free, given a proverbial "Band-Aid"...

Actually, that's part of the plan I have for it, today. I'm going to remove one fuse at a time, only the ones I've messed with previously, for a couple of hours, and see if I can determine which one caused this temporary fix.

I'm determined to prove this noise is related to the actuator failure bit which has a 10 year time limit on it. If it were just the noise, I could live with it, but the touchy brakes and variable braking force while holding the pedal steady (it's minor, but there, and it's a bit creepy-feeling)...no. That needs to be an out-and-out recall.

Brakes. Tied with steering for most important system on any wheeled vehicle. They both need to be as close to flawless as possible.

My apologies, I've been slacking on this. Having stuff done to the house, the honey-do list grows three items for every one I do...plus I have the stuff I want to do...

I'll try to hit it, today. In fact, I'm going to go pull the one fuse I'm pretty certain it is, now, and I'll check how things are on the way to work, tomorrow.

It's possable. I have noticed a few funky things on the LS460, that my LS430 or LS400 didn't have. If the system detects a problem, it will not live with it, it will disable it. Also if it's not running smooth, it sems to make the car live with it, no matter if it gets better.

For example, when we swapping out the wheel bearing, we had the ABS unplugged, We turned the wheel, and needed to start the car for a split second. This caused everything to be disabled (power breaks, ABS, VSC), Once the car was plugged back togehter, the system would not detect it and for about 75 miles, it never adjusted for it, the ONLY way to fix it was Tecstream, or pull the battery. All other cars I have would of relised that the car was fixed while drviing it and the CEL would go off brining back everything online (some thingts would of needed to turn the car off an on but, not the case on the LS460)

Then another case we pulled off a break pad, after we got it back together it was not running smooth at all, After pulling the battery, it reset the computer and it was driving smooth as silk again.

Very odd, does every modern car work like this ?

My '05 Cadillac STS needed the periodic cold boot...i.e., pull a battery cable, touch it to the other one, and put it back. All of those problems were nav/audio-related, though.

Okay, I had DC CUT 1 removed for about an hour today at work.

No change.

I may, this upcoming week, disconnect the battery for a couple of hours to see if that does it. If it helps, then I'll go back to fuse pulling.
