Intermittent electrical loss
Hi all. I'm a first time poster but have lurked the forum for some time. I have a 2007 LS460 L. It has recently started losing electrical power in fraction of a second intervals. The map data sometimes works or displays an error on the screen. The radio has been functioning but now is also starting to flash off intermittently. Now when this happens it feels like the engine dies and ALL electrical is off and then power resumes. This affects steering, engine power and brakes. My wife drives this car and loved it until now. I am having concerns about her safety. As of yet I cannot find anything on this forum or the internet that addresses this problem. Help. ---JT

About 1 1/2 years ago I turned off the cruse control and the car died and rolled to a stop. The instrument cluster was lit up but I couldn't get it to restart or do anything. I finally had the presence of mind to turn off the power to the car and then push the start button again. It rebooted and fired right up with a code displayed for a few weeks before it went away. About three weeks later the battery died. Nada! Wouldn't even light the instrument cluster. I replaced the battery and no more trouble until these symptoms started. I read afterwards that a moment of low voltage plays havoc with the onboard computer system and creates multiple symptoms. I will check the battery connections tonight and test battery voltage with my multimeter tester. Thanks for the comment. --jt
