Nav Route Trace: Useful/Useless?
OK Lexus listen up, these are intelligent features I would like to see on future Navigation systems:
1. The Route Trace feature is virtually useless. It lays down a breadcrumb trail which add little or no functionality to the system. If those trails were saved and merged into the Nav's network, then that would be a step forward. Roads are changing all the time. Whether new, redesigned or eliminated, we should have the ability to trace and override these in Nav.
2. POIs - These change even more than roads. The ability to enter new POIs or deleting them would make the system more fluid and closer to real-time.
3. Entering new data should be done with a USB or infrared keyboard interface.
This wish list essentially would require an open interface - if you don't provide it, soon someone will. Lexus updates seldom pick up much in the way of POIs or roads, so allow us the ability to do so. Your database and its updates should ideally be in real-time, supported by a subscription based satellite link.

Interesting suggestions, also the Lexus Enform system is coming with the 2010 LS, that should bring added functionality. The Enform system will reportedly allow drivers to create destination lists on their home computer and send them directly to the vehicle, also get info and updates via wireless connection.

Best of all would be to replicate the Lexus nav with Waze!

CJITTY was kind enough to remind me about his write-up for Android. It's in the FAQ/DIY Sticky Thread in the LS460/600 forum.
Also, Whitetooth has documented how to use Vaistech with an iPhone.
