LS460L or BMW 750IL?? HELP ME - I cant decide!
Hi
Im looking to buy a new luxury car. I looking at both BMW 750IL or LS460L. I CANNOT make up my mind which one I should go for !!!. I dont know much about either yet but I love them both.
Please, tell me why I should buy a Lexus LS460 over a BMW 7-series??? ? They both cost about the same and features are about the same. Of course I know about the parking feature in the Lexus - which is pretty neat.
I appreciate the feedback.

The LS is most likely quieter, and smoother. The LS has an 8 speed auto which is awesome. The LS has an advanced engine with great gas mileage. The LS has a much better interior. The LS is much easier to use and it has a much better Nav system with live traffic updates and a better radio if you choose the Mark Levinson. Imo the LS looks a lot better inside and out. It has neat backseat features like rear diffusers and infared body thermometers which read your body temp and adjust climate accordingly. Also front and rear (optional) climate controlled seats. The list can go on and on because the LS has options that the 7 doesnt have. IMO the LS beats the 7 in every aspect except handling which the LS doesnt do to bad in. If i were you i would go with the LS no questions.

750iL IMHO is uglier than LS460L
750iL will respond and handle VERY well, with excellent steering and overall 'feel'
Although I haven't driven it, LS460L apparently still has loosy goosy steering and while the air suspension is good, it's still not as sporty as BMW.
Ergonomics award goes HANDS DOWN to Lexus. The 750iL interior is weird.
So the 750iL is more the drivers car, and the LS460L wins in every other way.

Lol shows how much knowledge the others have.
there is no such thing as a 750iL, there is a 750Li though.
If you ask on a lexus forum they will say LS is better, if u ask on BMW forum they will say BMW is better.
I suggest you test drive both and decide for yourself.
Bewarned though LS is a new model so it could have some Kinks.
And the BMW is going to be replaced soon in 2008 i believe. I'm sure the new 7er will be more advanced than the new LS.
Good Luck! Both are nice cars you wont be dissapointed by either!

if you want a driver's car, definitely get the 7 series. it has so much more road feel, tighter steering, better braking (feel at least), and handling.
however, if you want a smooth quiet ride, faster in speed, and more refine in quality and finish, the ls460l is a lot better.
the 7 series is a lot stiffer on the ride, the seats aren't really that comfortable imho. but on the other hand lexus is more "disconnected" from the road

I think just because a BMW is coming up with a new body in 2008, I will settle for a LS, lease it for 2-3 years and probably then get the 7 series. Im still exploring all my options. Im on both forums LS and 7 series, and everybody says what 'rominl' just said. I guess Im looking for more high tech car, with comfortable ride. I just hate the price difference between 460 and 460L. $10 K difference - thats huge when BMW is only $4K difference. Oh well.

The reason is that Lexus package more options as standard in the LS460L compared with the LS460, thus the bigger price difference. You will see if you look closely at what you get extra with the LS460L in addition to getting a longer car.

anyway, please don't mistake on the price, the price difference between ls460 and ls460l is not 10k. for the 10k difference, you actually get quite a bit more stuff on the ls460l other than just the extra 5 inches

Reliability is more important after it's gone...
After owning and enjoying two LS's (1999 and 2003), I decided to try a 2006 BMW 3xi. I don't know if my experiences will hold true for the 7 series.
I chose a 3 series for "Sportiness" even though it's smaller. I wanted AWD and a manual transmission. Although also available on the 5 series, I went with the 3.
After 7 months, I now have to bring it in for its 2nd malfunction.
First the BMW Assist (Lexus Link) failed. Now the radar cruise control is dead.
The dealer experience is ok, but I DON'T WANT TO BE AT THE DEALER!
Worse when they perform maintenance like this and install a new version of the software, you lose all of your settings, including navigation points, radio stations, preferences, etc.
With the first problem, I went in for my appointment, waited 2 hours, and then they told me that they had to order a part. I got a loaner, and didn't get my car back for a week.
With both of my Lexus's, I never had any problems and only went to the dealer for regular maintenance.
In 2008, it's back to nice, comfortable, quiet, "Everything works the way you expect", RELIABLE, Lexus LS for me. I have a 600hL on order.
Oh, and by the way, the i-Drive isn't complicated, it's just so much more intrusive into attention to the road. Push it that way, wait for it to respond, twist the **** and hold it 'til what you want is highlighted, push it down, slide it this way ....... I won't miss i-DRIVE at ALL.

In my opinion the 7 series is the LEAST appealing car in its class.
I would choose any of the following over it : S550, LS460 and
Audi A8.
Also, when the first 7's came out they were an absolute reliability
nightmare... Beware buying into the first model year of this car
in 2008 or when it comes out.
Having said that, I would also NOT buy an LS460 or an S550 on
their first model years
