Default At my wits end with front end noise

2005 LS 430 (100K on car) continues to make groaning and squeaking noises in sharp turns (into driveway, etc.).

I have replaced struts and bushings first, then lower ball joints each time thinking I was through with it. But after ball joints noise is back.

Any suggestions on what to do next? Guy that has been doing work for me has always been great, but I'm into this for $1700 so far with no success.

Thanks to all!!

The front lower control arm's are one of the most common and you can replace the bushes and not the whole arm. I also suggest front sway bar bushes. Would not hurt to to the rears while you are at it. Even though the sway bars bushes may not look bad they will be very soft after 100k miles.

Does the car or steering column rattle or "bang"?

Did you lube or replace the Sway Bar Bushings? These need to be lubed about every 30,000 miles/5 yrs. You have them front and back.
The previous owner of my 1992 SC400 complained in 95 of noises going over bumps and Lexus lubed the sway bar bushes front and back. A note from the mechanic said they were dry. I still do it to the Car every 5 yrs. I use a Synthetic grease.
The photo of the sway bar bushings. Old one on right after 158,000 miles, definitely worn compared to the new one.

2005 LS430 has a bushing in the lower control that is not sold separately.
Strut mounts or "Hats" make noise when they are worn.
$1700 on parts?
What parts have you replaced?

Part #48655 (lower control arm bushing in the pic) is sold separately, and is the most often changed front suspension part on the LS.

Mine would make a popping/cracking noise on very slow turns (in the driveway etc)

$1700 was parts and labor for struts, bushings and ball joints. Am going to check into lubing bushings.

How many miles on your LS? The lower control arm bushings are sealed; can't be lubed. If you're going to the trouble of lubing sway bar bushings, you should replace them if they're old. Sway bar bushings are inexpensive. But if your lower control arm bushings have never been replaced, that is the primary cause of the noises you hear on sharp turns.

Yeah as Tom mentioned, not sure where this whole lube thing comes from. These bushes are not greased from the factory. I never greased any of mine and confirmed Lexus dealers do not grease them when replacing.

Default Lexus lubed sway bar bushings

Sway bar bushings on installed dry. This was Lexus Tech's resolution for my car with only 30k miles and 3 yrs old. Car making noises going over bumps.

The term "dry" to describe rubber bushings doesn't mean that the solution is to lube them. When rubber gets old, it gets dry, brittle and cracks. It's not supple anymore. The solution is to replace the rubber bushings, for like $20.

And, the vehicle shown in the dealer receipts is not 3 years old. It's a 1992 SC 400 (DOF 1991) 25+ years old. All the more reason to change the bushings.

Look again, The Date is 03-03-95, vehicle has 30,376 miles. This is the remedy that Lexus applied. They did not replace the bushing they lubed it.

Have an 04 w/ Sports. Very slight vibration is noticeable between 60 -80. Doesn't feel as tight as my 01. Virtually new Michelin Premiers. Just changed rims. Lower control arm bushings recent replace. I'm going to have my tire guy redo the balance (maybe load balance if they can do). Do the polyurethane bushings wear out and are they a good replace item? Anything else cheap and easy?

The dealer lubed sway bar bushings on a SC (under warranty) that were only 3 years old and had only 30K miles. This is not what a L dealer would do on a LS not under warranty that is 12 years old and 100K miles.
