2002 ls 430 intake manifold
About a year ago, engine started stumbling, and cel codes mentioned I needed to replace ocv bank 2/1. Problem fixed. A few months ago, same codes returned, and same was done again. This time, problem stayed, and disconnecting the battery worked until recent. Posts mentioned it might be o2 sensors, or maf, but mechanic didn't think either would be the fix. More reading has lead me to wonder if it might be the intake manifold gasket. Present symptoms are: hesitation, air conditioner goes warm at idle, gas smell, disconnecting the battery doesn't help, and possible leakage near intake manifold. Has anyone else had this problem? I bought my ls 4 years ago, and not sure if owners babied it, but I use full synthetic. Maybe they used oil noted in manual. I'm not really wanting to do the job myself, but any info would be helpful.

Those symptoms don't sound like an intake manifold gasket. If it was leaking you would have a rough idle and codes relating to a lean mixture. Have you ever cleaned your throttle body? If not, buy a new gasket, remove it, and clean both sides and all of the little passages with aerosol throttle body cleaner. You could also have a TPS issue that would cause similar issues. Your ac problem is unrelated.
