my brother has a lx430 (?) he recently purchased at auction

took it in to get the belts done and the shop said not needed. the techs had marked that it was done 2 years ago i guess with marker.

do the dealers all do this or ?

Most timing belt kits come with a sticker to put on the engine or some place that tells the mileage and date it was changed. Dealers would do it too.

Most shops should have the sticker indicating date and mileage and they would put it somewhere near the timing belt cover. If the dealership did it, it "should" have one. It's mandatory that they do. Also if the dealer did it, it will be In The computer system and you can call them and ask by giving them the VIN.

If your car doesn't have the sticker, it doesn't necessarily mean it hasn't been done.

I bought my 2006 CL a few months ago. The seller said that he didn't think the TB had been changed. Luckily, when I got the car I found this sticker!!

Is that sticker inside of the driver door frame?

Correct. Along the door frame by the factory tire PSI recommendations...etc.
