I have no need for a 45 series tire on a luxury car. I'd feel differently if I drove a high performance sports car.

I agree. Modern adaptable suspensions are improving though, my GS had 45 series tires on 18s and had the AVS and I was surprised by how well it rode. Nothing like the LS obviously but surprisingly well.

The trend is towards thinner and thinner aspect ratios and bigger and bigger wheels. Hopefully modern suspensions will help cars ride better on them.
