Default How hard does everyone drive these?

How solid are those and does anyone have a lead foot with them?they move out pretty well for there weight and they love to to cruise. Just wondering since I do drive pretty hard, wot often how well these cars take a beating that way. I do notice I have a hitch pitch whine around 2k Rpms and I'm not sure if it's a common thing or not.

If you have a high pitch whine check your belt and pulleys for wear and worn bearings. Tensioner, alternator etc.

I have a heavy foot but I don't beat the car. Always run on high test 93 octane and full synthetic oil.

Those are all ok and brand new when I did timing belt and water pump. It's a high pitch whine only audible from 2k and up. Sounds like it's driveline. Definitely not wheel bearing it's just a contestant high pitch that's steady. And does not sound like a bearing in the rear either. I've seen a couple complaints about a high frequency whine at that same rpm but have not seen answers. I did the shift tsb update at work at Toyota and it was present beforehand. Car has 125k on it and fluid was changed out about 10k ago. Just wondering if they can handle being driven hard.

High pitch whine is discussed here.

Drive my 02 soooo hard. Had a gs400 before that I drove equally hard and only thing I noticed on the 400 was potentially slightly slower shifts and a minor sound in front left suspension when going over bumps. Now, I go slow over speed bumps but I used to romp over them. I'll race whatever and over 100 mph on the daily w super aggressive braking and cornering. I know its "not what they were built for" but I have such a lead foot if I got a super fast car I'd be in prison for speeding or worse! lol

i guess for a truly fact based answer to your question we'd have to get a Toyota engineer to chime in. But I've always believed if you properly lubricate and cool a car, and change the fluids regularly, all of them, you can drive it as hard as you want or can on the street. Track use might be a different story.

Driving any car hard will always wear it out more quickly. If you do insist on mashing around try to make sure it is warmed up before going nuts. Also, please be responsible and take care for others out there. You can do whatever you want with your vehicle but driving recklessly can easily hurt innocent people. Take it to the track and off the streets my friend.

I usually drive mine relaxed and ride the torque wave, which is clearly what it was designed for, but the car does have serious hustle if you get into the gas. I do floor it sometimes just to run through the gears and let her breathe.

I recently drove cross country; went well over 100 for hours on end through the deserts in NM and AZ (was going so fast that the low beams wouldn't cut it) and she didn't miss a beat.

It's is a robust pcie of engineering. Just maintain as needed. Chang oils when required. Being hared on the it will shorten the life, but how mutch is not a forwarded ancer.
Profe of how will this is a robust car I now of few how used them for daily commute to work of 200 to 250 mil round trip, driving at 90 to 120 mil/h. And the cares did 250 to 300 k mil, befor they sold it out. Withe temps above 100 F. Still in acceptable condition.
