Dvd/nav unable to read disc
Hey guys it's happening again . Unable to read nav cd. Here is a pic from today. Going to unbolt nav system in trunk tomorrow, eject disc, start car, let system boot,& insert disc again.
Fingers crossed it works. Just wanted to show you guys a pic.

I believe I've fixed the problem. Noticed one of 4 wire harnesses was unplugged from back of nav system. This had a grey plug on it. Plugged back in, all seems well. Some how this backed out. Only had the car a couple months. Maybe something was done prior to my ownership. Anyway, time will tell.

Awesome! I was going to reply and suggest also to do what the system was telling you---ensuring the DVD was absolutely clean.

Or, take the opposite route and buy the latest/greatest update (if you don't already have it) for like $150?
Then again...unless someone has been using the disc as a Frisbee, why the heck would the disc go bad to begin with?

Oxidized contact points at the cable connectors? May need cleaning?
Also DVD players don't last forever. They do wear out, just like in PCs, even though that is more common among DVD R/W devices rather than DVD players. And it would look like a bad DVD when that happens. Just my $0.02

Could it be merely a bad disc? A simple/cheap solution would to buy an old nav disc on Ebay for like $19 and run that old disc for a while to see if you receive the error message anymore?

I will look for a used disc once I exhaust these options. Thanks everyone

i doubt this will help, but you never know, its helped me. a few months ago my GF got a new CD jammed in the CD player, nothing would work on the player at all, i thought it would have been a big PITA to fix, but a member on here just recommended a soft reset (disconnecting the battery) and let the car fully reboot, worked like a charm and my CD player has been fine ever since. good luck man.
