Help me understand this ML system
Like many others I am not happy with the amount of bass this system produces. Now that I have my SL3B installed and running well, I decided to play with some equalizers to color the sound coming out of my phone. The first thing I noticed when upping the bass is that the bass increases mainly in the door speakers?!?
Anyone have any clue what the crossovers for these speakers is set at? It almost seems like these mid-bass speakers "produce" bass as well with the sub to fill in some? It just seems odd to me how much bass is coming out of the door speakers.
The sub has nice deep bass on a very few select tracks and I am happy for those few moments.

the system is a little above average at best, it was designed in the late nineties, before our music desires changed,
its great for vocals and clarity but disappoints on all other fronts,
apple car play is getting integrated i believe into the pioneer systems with nav this year, seems like a great time to do the install for 2k and get a real system
cheers

Yes, the front door speakers are woofers / mid-range speakers; the tweeters are in corners of dash. It's a typical "two-way" speaker system. Depending upon year of LS, back door speakers are integrated two-way speakers (2 speakers in one), or later models are like front doors, with woofers / mid-range and tweeters separate. The sub is restricted to the very low frequencies only (around 400 Mhz and below). Personal taste I set the ML 3-step equalizer with tweeter up full max, mid-range 1 or 2 notches below middle, and bass 1 or 2 notches below full max. And I set the front-to-back adjustment a couple notches to the rear setting. Clear and distortion-free.

Crank the bass up to max and the tweeter to max. Set the mid to 3 notches below middle and set the seating position to the two front chairs. Gives it a spacious soundstage and the bass growls just a little more.
