Noisy front left wheel
I have a noise in my front left wheel. Could it be wheel bearing? Does the front wheel assembly have bearing? 2002 Lexus 430.
Thanks

there are alot of things that could be causing a noise in the wheel well. if the bearing is going bad, it will be a constant low pitch "groaning" noise that gets louder as you accel.

It's a good idea to first rotate the tires to see if the noise stays in the same place.
I've seen a situation where a bad tire caused the same type of noises as a wheel bearing going out.

Check 1) Wheel or tire is bad. 2) rotor, caliper, or pad is bad 3) Wheel bearing. Like Brad posted, rotate tires first to see if sound moves. Check pad, rotor and inspect caliper to make sure its not stuck when tire is being rotated. If everything looks good and sound doesn't move with wheel/tire its likely the wheel bearing especially with high miles.

Looks like the fronts are $280ea and rears are $240ea at Carson.
Or fronts for $262ea, and rears for $226ea at Sewell with the CL discount.
Not sure about shipping costs though. And if you replace one front hub, do the other front at the same time.

I was only going to have one done at my dealer but they pried off the wrong one in the front and thus I got two for one their mistake. I think my passenger front was taken out by a construction zone for 3 years where I had to be routed over the safety lane with the drainage grates . whump, whump whump Are you really supposed to do both if just one is bad? Glad I got one free then.

I'm not sure how many others would agree with me, it's just something I do. I treat wheel bearings/hubs just as I would brake components, struts, tires and suspension bushings. If the drivers side gets something replaced, I do the passenger side at the same time. Unless the part isn't really a usual wear item and a freak incident took it out, then I'd just replace the suspect part.

When I bought my car I notice a noise similiar to what you have, my sounds like a sticking caliper at that time . I mention it and they replace both rigor and pads. As of today its still there , the noise sound like a grinding noise while brakeing and only below 30 mph . It's not my wheel bearing so it might be my tire.
