Default Odyssey battery install

Since I had to replace the Odyssey PC 1700 in my wife's LX after 7 faithful years of service ( 5 yrs in So. AZ heat where most batteries only last a few years, then 2 yrs of cold in the mountains of NM)...it still holds charge, but wouldn't start the car after it sat in the airport parking garage in 5F temps for 9 days. Anyways, I decided to take the opportunity to upgrade the battery in the LS (3 yr old OEM with 1.5 yrs in AZ and 1.5 yrs in the NM mountains). I ordered the Odyssey 34R-PC1500. Dimension-wise, it's very close in width and depth, but about 1 inch shorter in height. The mods you need to make are as follows: The plastic OEM battery cover is merely a skirt that slides over the OEM battery and is clamped down with the battery strap. To remove the battery, you need to release the two positive cable clips that are mounted to the side of the battery cover. Then remove the nut on the inner clamp and loosen the nut on the side towards the front of the vehicle. You can now remove the battery strap and lift up the skirt. I used the old Odyssey battery from my wife's LX with jump cables to maintain power to the vehicle's electronics so the ECU wouldn't require relearning, and I wouldn't lose my nav marks and radio stations. I wrap a towel around the positive terminal/jump cable to ensure it doesn't accidentally touch any metal in the engine compartment.

Okay, so the mods I had to make were to the battery cover. The Odyssey 34R-1500 fits perfectly into the OEM tray, just the skirt is too high. I cut off the bottom 1" of the plastic battery cover. You also have to notch-out the overlapping plastic lip at the center under where the battery strap goes since I had to shim it with a block of wood. This is necessary since the battery strap rod closest to the front of the vehicle doesn't have enough threads. Ideally, I'd have a block of aluminum or delrin instead of a block of oak, but that's what I had on hand. Here is a pic of the install and a link to the specs:
