2004 LS cup holder
My cup holder wont stay in (like its not "catching") I can push it in but 5 seconds later it pops back out. Meade Lexus of Sfield said " we usually dont fix things, we just replace it". I thought, $125 for a cup holder???
ANY REPAIR TIPS OUT THERE?!?
Thanx in advance

I would look into cleaning it. I had the same problem and looks like soda was all gunked up in the mechanism and would not allow it to lock properly. I cleaned the outside, inside, upside, downside and i think its clean now. It works perfect now.

A soda straw wrapper got down into the console of my wife's car, and fouled up the latch. Removing the shifter surround allowed me to retrieve it and restore the cup holder to normal function.

Ive cleaned the cup holder area, There's nothing stuck in there & it STILL wont latch. How do you move the shift surround to get to the cup holder latch? Help me out CL this is driving me crazy!

These are inexpensive tool kits designed to safely remove trim kits. The ones listed below are avail on line. I think local Pep Boys or the like will also have something similar.

Thanks for the feeedback CL. i just re-installed my repaired cup holder!! (+ $125) Jabberwock I did order a nylon pry tool set on Ebay for $7, & they really helped out alot (I did break one during the removal of the shift surround). Once I removed the cup holder, held in by 4 phillips screws, I messed around w/it and simply had to adjusted a "guide pin" the latches the cup holder closed.
Also I ordered my storage box (ash tray replacement) from Sewell which should be here tomorrow. Next, I can install that & button it back up.
By the way I did break one of the clips on the shift surround (front left) but I should still have a tight fit. Thanks to all those who contribute with valuable information. I learned a bunch and saved a ton by not going to the "STEALERSHIP"
