Tint questions
I got a couple of questions about tint that I was hoping you guys could answer. First off, how much did it cost to get your windows tinted. Second, does anyone know of any good tint places in or around Wichita KS? I go to school in Kansas and I dont want to end up going to a bad place. Thinking about just getting it done when I get back to Jersey.

I was quoted $200 on my old LS400 for the four side windows and rear installed.
I'd get it tinted in whichever state you have the car registered in. The laws may be different from one state to another. Here in MA, the maximum tint is 35%, however the installer I called refuses to install anything darker than 50%, since the OEM windows already have an unspecified % of tint on them. The installer stated that here in MA, they enforce the tinting % law.

Well the laws in Kansas are 35 all around but in Jersey its none on the front 35 in the back. Either way I think I'm gonna go 35 all around with a strip on the windshield. Is there anything in the way of the windshield strip (light sensor, rain sensor) ?

I put 50% on the sides asnd 35% in the back here in Ohio. I had ceramic tint installed because it's better with heat (I have black interior). 380.00 out the door. I know I could have gotten normal tint for cheaper, but no need to skimp on a flagship automobile.
I think the LS is too nice to have a strip on the windshield, personally. I do love the privacy and look of tint, though. Good luck!

I got mine at a place in Bloomfield NJ and it was $200 for 20% rear and rear sides, then 50% front sides. Nothing on windshield. Thus far, no cop trouble but have not gone through inspection yet. If I fail the free state inspection, then I go through private for about $80. Cheaper than removing and retinting the fronts.

Thanks I was always curious to know what it was because its as black as the car...its amazing during the day, but at night its kind of a nuisance not going to lie it reflects all the light in especially on a dark road...I assume 15% is very illegal but its my dads car so we'll see...its way too gangsta...

I'm using Formula One Pinnacle ceramic, 35% on all side and rear windows. $285+tx installed. Although I have Formula One metallic tints on my other cars and have not had any issues with using a cell phone (non-bluetooth, no phone antenna outside, windows rolled up), I didn't want to risk the metallic tints interferring with the smart key...probably wouldn't, but I just didn't want to risk it. The ceramic tint keeps the car cooler than metallic (which is far better than dye-based)...can't even feel any heat strike my neck when driving home late in the afternoon in AZ whereas I can with 35% metallic. With OEM tint (like 88%), the sun is burning hot.

I have 20% on mine, they usually dont offer 15% i don't think (usually 50%,30%,20%,5% limo). the place i go to usually charges $175, but I've done over 10 cars with them, so I paid $150.

The only other question I guess is whether or not to get metallic. Ive heard a lot of conflicting things but so far it sounds like ceramic is the best in both heat rejection and it wont block any signals.

Like I said, if you go metallic over ceramic and find out it messes up your signals, you'll have to have it removed and install ceramic. Everytime you remove tint, there's a chance something in your car will get messed up (like rear defroster line cut, etc.). IMHO, it's not worth saving a few bucks on such a vehicle and finding out the hard way.
