Got it off...now I need to get at the actuator for the door lock which is part of the door open lever / mechanism and lock for the door....rrrggghhh. if I remove the 2 torx screws on the door panel and the 3 on the locking latch...will it slip through one of the access points on the door panel?

I have the same issue with an '02 LS430, but I need a bit of advice on getting off the plate that covers the door handle to get to the screw behind it.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks.

Just replaced my 2002 LS 430 passenger door actuator
Just replaced my actuator on my passenger door. There are 6 screws holding the door. 3 at the bottom, one in the vent hole and one behind the door release lever plate and one under the door lock and window control plate. LEFT THE WINDOW UP....The door panel lifts straight up and you have to disconnect several connectors...there are two bicycle style cables that have to be popped out at the top but it is easy. Pay attention to which goes where but you cannot hook them incorrectly.
I removed the 2 torx screws (silver) on the door holding the lock mechanism and the 3 screws at the door latch. Also removed the black screw at the bottom edge that holds the window channel guide. I moved the channel out of the way and left the window up.
then popped off the door handle rod and the mechanism came out easily. Had to peel the paper down and I could not unhook the wiring from the actuator assembly... PAY ATTENTION to the door lock assembly. I did not.. but trial and error let me put it back correctly....
my actuator had a flat sided shaft... could not find one of those anywhere. I ordered two with the collar... so I used a dremel and a cut off wheel and flat sided a shaft cutting a little and dipping it in water to keep it cool.
popped apart the assembly, put the engine in, glued it in several spots... super glue and put it all back together... I am up and running... about 3 hours later... works like a champ and the next will be MUCH faster as I know what I am doing...
I would rate it a medium project... you need a 30 torx, 10mm socket and phillips and a flat to pop the motor case... I used extra white lithium and all is good in the world.
