Timing belt, etc at 90,000?
I have a 2001 LS430 Ultra with almost 90,000 miles on it. Timing belt has not yet been replaced - is it time? What else should be done at this mileage and what is the approximate cost of this work? Thanks.

t belt
I will need a t-belt done soon. I inquired at the Toyota Dealer and was told the belt/install is 350 bucks. The seals and pulleys rarely need changing. I will get a water pump as long as they are in there.
It seems an once of preventtion is worth a pound of cure.

Swagga i work in the same industry as your father and changed t-belt when my ls had about 135 000 mi on it. Honestly the car could still go for many more miles without the timing belt change but i did hear some noise from under the hood so just to be safe i had it done. The way i see it, belt costs pennies but labor is expensive. As stated in the above post 300 dollars is labor. So if you gonna do it, do it with the water pump cuz they have to take off the same stuff in order to replace both.

Just do it for God's sake to be on the safe side. I guess you're gonna drive it til the wheels fall off? The "wheels" statement dosen't actually mean rims and tires. What it means is a major thing like a blown piston or the TIMING BELT happends to break. If your goin to get rid of it anyway if that happends then forget about doin it and just drive it til the wheels fall off but if you plan on keeping the car and if you really do care for it, then just get it done and move on. For the LS owners, 1k-1.5k put into this car for the TB service is nothing compared to what you get in return from this car over the course of ownership: worry-free years of service, women, timeless styling, ability hang with the big dogs and laugh at them, women, high value and oh yeah..women. How many times have this issue been discussed?

My tech suggested not to go past 110K on the timing belt, so I just had the TB & water pump changed at 102K. He also said if the seals are not leaking (rare) he was not going to touch them, (you should see the list the dealer wants done at 90K) I agree get it done b/c you will sleep better!
