there are 2 black plastic "stoppers" that prevent you from opening the trunk far enough for the struts to be installed. you'll see them when you open the trunk. remove them(you can do this with just your fingers, no tools), they're easy to remove, then you can install the struts. just take these plastic things off on both sides, install struts and then put them back.
BTW, I installed mine. They work pretty good. When I installed them, I put few drops of Mobile 1 for now as a lubricant, but they still squeek a little, even when I drive I can hear them on pot holes and stuff.
I probably need to put some sort of grease so they stop squeeking.
