HVAC temp and clock bulbs not working
1998 LS400 with navigation
My 3 displays right above the navigation/HVAC/Audio screen no longer light up when the interior lights are turned on. Im referring to the ones that show the hvac temp/ clock and outside temp. Im assuming the bulbs are burned. Can these be replaced? any info would be greatly appreciated. I used the search function and didnt come up with an answer to this exact situtaton.
thanks

I once had exactly the same problem with you on my 98 Celsior. Those bulbs are mounted like these below.

My local dealer said, "Bulbs for the the navigation/HVAC/Audio are all SMD (Surface Mount Device) bulbs and those are not available/changeable here and we usually replace the whole unit."
What I did was to use SMD LEDs replacing SMD bulbs modifying the circuits. This can't be simply done because those bulbs are SMD bulbs and are also controlled by the dimming circuits. A simple replacement will cause a problem. The detail of it can be found here below but all written in Japanese.

When the link above doesn't work, try this below.

You can find some more about the bulb. At the post #6, Legender, whom I always find him informative, writes about the bulb source.

I need to add some more.
I added X: 220Ω, Y: 2kΩ and Z: 1kΩ cutting the trace to get a proper brightness in my application.
There were totally 16 bulbs but I used 20 SMD white LEDs since I used 2 LEDs in series for replacing 4 bulbs used for climate and clock LCDs in order to get a bettter appearance of figures.
