97' LS400 Immobiliser help!
Hi, I am a newbie in need of help! I have been on the forum in the past but never actually signed up.
Quick story, I purchased a crash damaged 97' non-vvti LS400 (1UZFE) so I could use it as a donor for putting into another car.
So rewire the engine harness and remove the autobox wires I had used mostly wiring diagrams off this page: http://oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/to...-and-non-vvti/
Although I had thoroughly looked over the diagrams there was never a mention of an immobilisation feature on this ecu, no wires in or out of it noted to be for such etc.... this was backed up when I spoke to a company local to me that said 'only the VVTi V8's had immobilisers'.
So I stripped the car and didn't think anything of it, 6 months go by and its all fitted and ready to start. It runs smoothly for 3ish seconds and switches itself off. Turning it over again it won't fire, turn ignition off and back on and it will run for 3 seconds then switch off again.
I then started digging around the forums and found someone with the same issue here: http://www.lextreme.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16506
It turns out yes I have an immobiliser and yes the little control box, transponder ring, key and loom all went to scrap 6 months ago
So now you know my issue, I spoke to ECU specialist on the phone today and my ECU cannot be reprogrammed to have the immobiliser feature removed.
Replacement ECU perhaps? I cannot find one with my ECU code on it for sale:

So what would people suggest? Is there a way of fooling the ECU into thinking the immobiliser is there? I am totally stumped!
Any insight into this would be great

Rule one if you are scrapping a car, take everything off before it goes. Everything. Most parts are not being made anymore you can always sell them.
Second rule....... when putting the engine out of one car into another car use all the electronics that are in the car receiving the new engine. That will fix or eliminate all the compatibility problems. If your putting the power train into a non ls car then I'd go with all aftermarket controllers.

There is enough misinformation that is circulating between these LS400's. 97 did have an immobilizer though IDK about early production '97's. They also had the side seat air bags among other differences. If you kept the '97 harness then you may be able to hunt down an ECU, receiver and keys from the '97. My alternate thought is to find a harness and ECU for the 95-96 but that may leave a connector out that is necessary so some receiving sensor/switch may need to be switched out to enable a non immobilized ECU to run the engine.
