HELP- mirrors, seats not working, FOB doesn't unlock doors
97 LS400 187,904. I have searched multiple threads and gotten a start but need a little more help...
Woke to alarm beeping very softly and battery drained (6 y.o. battery, ready to be replaced). No signs of attempted break-in. Put in new battery and when connecting negative cable security alarm starts blaring and nearly scared me to death. Pull security alarm fuse, connect battery and start car. Fires right up. Unfortunately many things not working:
- Auto wheel telescope when key put in ignition, manually works fine
- Power mirrors not working
- Memory seating not working
- Fob won't unlock doors or trunk
Funny that disconnecting battery reset clock but not radio stations. Read that an ECU reset may be the way to go. Also read that there are multiple ECU's for mirrors, seats etc which is troubling. Curious that all of this failed at the same time. Coincidence?
Thanks

Also driver side power lock switch not working. When I lock the door by hand, driver's side, the car automatically unlocks itself. Going to pull the DS switch panel.

I would unlock the car, take key out of the ignition, disconnect the battery for a few minutes, reconnect it.
What maybe happening to cause the alarm in the first place is the door open switch is not doing its thing and showing the door was closed, and lost connection some how and set the alarm off and drained the battery.
All doors, trunk, hood etc. have a switch to set off the alarm.

Sounds like a slow voltage drop has caused your problem. Computers have two types of resets, an initial power up reset and a power off closing reset. A slow voltage drop can't generate the power off closing reset pulse and the computers can't work properly and often stray electrons remaining in C-MOS cells cause additional problems.
The link below may help you to fix your problems, I hope.

I do not show a TRAC or VSC light on my dash. Just the check engine light and airbag lights.Should I just wing it and try it anyway? Nothing to lose really...

Haven't you tried a jump starting?
If Yes, things would not be very simple. It generates spikes and it may kill some units.
Hope you haven't done that.

No jump start. Absolutely not. Replaced dead battery with a fresh one, it is currently disconnected and in the driveway. Will try again tomorrow after work. Hopefully the car resets itself. Having all of these symptoms go at once is odd, hoping that they all come back. Fingers crossed
Otherwise car is solid ,starts and runs like a bull.

Reconnected battery and unfortunately things are still the same. Things are not too bad though, I mean the telescoping wheel still works manually and the side mirrors can be gently adjusted by hand, click by click. It's my daughter's ride so I can't complain. Just weird how all this 'happened'. Seems like there would be something connecting all of these systems but at the same they don't seem like they should be connected. Oh well, car runs strong and should get my girl through college. Thanks everyone!
