Generation 1 LS400, information and fixes
I hope others add to this thread.
I just wish I could post pictures to help explain some of the stuff.
The latest thing I did is rebuild the idle control valve for the power steering pump.
I started by blowing out the valve in it with shop air using the port opposite the port that has a raised lug near it. Point it down into a rag so you don't loose it. There are 2 grooves and each groove has an o ring and a Teflon seal ring.
I replaced the o rings from a kit I got from harbor freight.
Then I used a Vee shaped dremel rotary file, very small one to slightly cut around the mating area and around the wrenching flats leaving a small vee, I also used the point to lightly divit the wrenching flats very close to the plastic that it goes through this was done so the JB weld would have something to dig into. It has to be very clean and free from any kind of oil before putting the JB weld on it. Mix up the epoxy and fill the whole bottom of the assembly around the wrenching flats that should keep it from ever leaking. Anyway I have not yet used it, but I have faith it will work just fine.
So before you do the delete and or ruin a valve try this. They are not cheap items to purchase.
Oh and the O rings 6mm
So lets keep the ideas coming.
