New Guy... Question about shock tower
Hey guys. My name is tony.. if anyone is from the honda scene back in the day my user name was tony_em1. Anyways I'm new to the ls400 platform but am enjoying the car a lot. Bought it about a year ago and recently started messing around with her. I just finished bagging it this weekend and can't lower the front any further do to the upper control arms hitting the shock tower from underneath. Was wondering if any of you could point me to a thread dealing with this very issue. Thanks in advance

Welcome and a congrats on the nice looking LS.
For those wanting that low a setting, clearance holes are cut into the towers.
Vincent's thread has what he did for that height situation:

clearance holes just be sure to drill a pilot hole from under the car upwards (with the hood open and wires moved out of the way) so that you center the holes in the right spot. You'll miss if you try to drill initially from the top down.
Don't make a bigger hole than what you need, you can always make a smaller hole bigger.

yes def drill upwards first. you should see a mark where the upper a-arm was striking onto the inner well. use a special hole saw that can cut metal! also there is no need to box it up as in vincent's thread. dirt and debris barely does not enter in there anyway, plus there usually isn't any structural concerns either.

Thanks. I almost did this yesterday but ended up not going through with it because the stock exhaust on these cars hangs to low and I am already touching the ground when i air it out now. Anyone have pictures of tucking their exhaust to lower the car on the way to the floor? any one else run into this problem besides me?

You won't get much lower with the exhaust tucked. Maybe like half an inch lower but your upper control arm will reach max travel through the hole already. If you want to go lower in the front, you'll need shortened spindles. I would recommend drilling out the holes anyways to avoid that knock when you bottom out. Let me know what area you are in. I think I've seen you around. I have extra grommets to give you if you do 2 3/4 holes. This prevents water from splashing up into the engine bay.
