This has been happening on and off. Tires and brakes are okay. A garage a couple of weeks ago said it was one of the rear bearings. You hear a sound like you are coasting with steel wheels on a railroad track, again audible only on a quiet road.

Anyone know if this is okay to continue to drive with. Any what happens if or when it gets worse.

Depends on how bad the noise is and how long its been going. Worse case it self destructs and then its metal on metal wear and can be a total axle and carrier replacement then.
