How much would you pay for this '98 LS400?
A 1998 LS400 I'm looking to check out. It has 149k miles. Black on black.
1 minor accident. The car was parked and somebody hit the car along with three others. It was repaired by an authorized body shop.
Car also has hail damage. I don't know the severity of it, as i will be checking this out later today.
Car needs y-pipe replaced? Throwing a check engine light, assuming its the o2 sensor.
A/C doesnt work.
Here's the post. Thoughts?

I guess it depends on what your goals are with the car. For me, the hail is a deal killer right up there with clear coat peeling because its impossible/impractical/expensive to fix.
The AC can also be very expensive. The Lexus AC is usually rock solid, so seeing one dead is the exception. Makes me wonder how well the car was treated.
That said if that is not important to you the miles are good and the price is - so far - pretty low.
I personally would not pay a dime more than 2500 for it if i liked everything else.

Thank you for your opinion sayow. My price goal was actually lower than that, lol. Was considering $2k or less. She just wants to get rid of it and she's determined to sell it this week. They just bought a new Lexus.

I agree with sayow. I paid $4200 for my 96 with 233k miles, but it had really great condition original paint, and mint leather interior, and the motor ran amazing.
With the issues you posted, $2500 would be max. $2000 would be more like it though. Especially considering no AC during the summer time.

depends on your goals for the car. do you need a reliable daily? ac not working ok with you? etc. for the price it's fair since a lot of stuff is wrong with it but it can work for you if a somewhat-together car is all you need. a 98 car for the price of a 94, not bad but personally i would pass.

if i had 3k i'd have another ls400
