Default 91 ls400 on fire!

So I know I have been long absent the forums guys though some of you may remember me I have gotten into bike so I have kinda just halted plans on the car though I still have been using it.....

ANYWAYS so the 91 is up to 198,700k on the clock and last night I started the car up for a 5 minute drive to a nice place for a night walk with the girl..I hadn't even had the car about 15mph, and as we were driving along I looked to my left and noticed what looked like my turn signal flashing but it wasn't on. Pulled over open my door, and pretty much shat myself as I saw flames under the car I pop the hood, and yea 2 foot flames from around the left side of the engine. I got it out, right before the fire department showed up but I definitely did some damage.... and I will post pictures once I can go by the garage I had it towed to just can't right now due to the holiday weekend.

My question also though, is has anyone else on here been unlucky enough to to experience this?

Bad luck. At least you two are all right. I'm new to the forum and haven't noticed any car fire threads until now.

I havent heard of any either.
But ever since I saw some smoke after I did my valve cover gaskets, I have had a fire extinguisher mounted to the passenger floor mat.

And after this story, I will never remove it.

did you check the engine bay for rats/birds/rabbit nests before you drove it...?

you did say it was sitting for a while...

I didn't but I guess a while for me isn't really that long since I had been driving it all day for the most part. But on closer inspection it's looking like a fuel line rupture, but I won't know more until the shop tears into it and then I will let ya'll know the cause.
