My best guess is you've got a head gasket issue, and you're getting coolant in your engine. That's just a guess though.
I don't know if it applies to gas engines, but I know EGR issues on diesels can cause white smoke.

That's usually a result if the idle air control valve located under the power steering pump going bad. It leaks power steering fluid into the intake manifold and causes a big white cloud on startup that usually clears after a minute or two. I think there's a write up on lexls.com on how to replace our just get rid of it. If not there,the are some tutorials on here how to do it .not a very tough job
