Default Timing question

Hi Lexus owners, I was wondering for my 1991 ls400 when I'm replacing the timing belt does it matter if the distributor button goes back on the way I took it off or will it throw my timing off 180 degrees? Or will they even fit on more than one way? Thanks, in advance. Bradley.
