Default Intermittent issue with automatic turn off headlights; '91 LS400.

The automatic headlights turning off when you turn off your engine and open the door doesn't seem to be a common issue with '91 LS400's after doing some research, but mine is intermittently not turning off. It used to everytime, and now does it only when it feels like it.

I haven't done anything new to the car. Anyone run into this before, or have any suggestions?

I've had to jump my car a few times because I'm used to it turning off automatically. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks!!!

I had this problem a couple months ago, it was a faulty drivers door switch.

My suggestion is; Turn your lights off before ya get out of the car. I mean really, how much effort is it to turn a ****? That's alot easier then calling someone to give you a jump b/c you didn't shut 'em off. I know it's a good option to have but if you know it doesn't work then flip the switch. All it is really is just an option so if you forget to turn them off you won't have a dead battery.
I agree with emarknot about the faulty door switch and I've read about it happening on many 1st gen LSs. You can see if it's not working by opening the door and see if any other "options" are working, like the power windows and such. If the interior light doesn't come on or the windows still go down w/o the key in and the door open, then the switch is bad.
This is the tutorial that LiCelsior is talking about.
