92 LS400 Electrical Issue
I recently had my alternator replaced. Anyway, about 1 month ago I noticed that my CD player was shutting on and off out of the blue. Since it's been occurring more often lately, I realized that when I hit the brakes or flip the turn signal on, the whole electrical system goes on and off instantaneously. Anybody that can relate to this problem, or knows what could be causing it??

Could be the fairly common problem with a broken wire in the wire harness in the trunk. For more information see:

Wow. I checked the left hinge of my trunk, and sure enough one of the wires is split open. The white one just like the person at lexls. Well I'm gonna go ahead and fix that. Whether or not it fixes the problem, I will post my results here. Thanks a lot for the info!

So I got that broken wire professionally fixed today (the white one to be exact) at a car audio place. PROBLEM SOLVED!! The problems I was having prior to the fix: Broken light indicator on, when the brakes applied the Reverse light would illuminate and the RPMs would go up 500-1000 (depending on the current speed) in a split second and come right back down (I WAS SO TIRED OF THAT ALREADY), and when shifting into reverse, it would have about a 5 second lag before getting into gear. Everything is working nicely now and she is purring like a kitten again . There are 2 other issues that I was having as well, and I hope they were also fixed. It seems that at either 20 of 40 mph, it would get stuck in gear. The car would just rev but no go. Hopefully it's not a tranny issue. Lastly, especially when getting onto the freeway, sometimes the car would start an erratic pulsating/jerking and hick-upping type of action. We'll see....
