Rotor Replacement
Hello Gang,
This is my second set of Brembo rotors. After one thousand miles the car shake at high speed during braking. I took my car to the shop and they replace it again. Now, the damn things shate again at high speed.
I am tired of Brembo. Anyone know where i can get OEM replacement with slotted rotors?

Hmm, are you maybe getting water on the rotors after alot of driving? Like washing your car immediately after? or on a hot day of driving?
Also, sitting at a light for example and ppressing the brakes hard also can slowly warp the rotors. Don't have any more clues..

No matter how light you press on the brake while stationary or avoid spraying water on hot rotors, poor quality material used when constructing the rotors will quickly warp the rotors with use.

Sounds like those Brembos are bad news. Just out of curiosity, did the place that installed the rotors measure the run out on them? I think Steve Ganz at Carson Toyota has some slotted rotors.

My advice is to stay away from Brembo.
I got this message from www.brakewarehouse.com
The rotor problems on the '90 LS 400 have always been very bad and common. Sorry....

Ops.
here is goes again. from brakewarehouse.com
The rotor problems on the '90 LS 400 have always been very bad and common. Sorry....
The best rotor is a drilled and slotted ( & directional ) BRADI rotor.... The fronts cost $133.00 each
The rears are $131.00 each.
Be careful what pad you choose....

I think it goes something like this: You need to find a place to do it safely though. Drive the car at about 50-60 mph, step on the brake until about 5 mph. Keep the car rolling DO NOT stop, Do this about a few times. DO NOT have the car stop completely or stop at a red light. After a few times doing this, drive the car at constant speed at about 45-55 mph for about 40 minutes. Then stop the car, let it park over night.
This process will heat the rotors to operating temperature and did not have an excessive heat at any one spot by having the brake pads holding it like at the red light for the first few times.
If you didn't break-in the rotors, it will warp and crack...
Do a search on SC400 forum. This topic was discuss and someone did spell out the correct procedure on rotors break in.
