Default safe to drive with knock sensor error 52?

So I am getting the knock sensor error code 52. I'm sure it is the knock sensor as well since the starter was just replaced. Is it bad to drive around with that code? I mean the knock sensor just adjusts timing when it detects pinging right? So if the car is in otherwise reasonable health with clean fuel it should be fine right?

Well **** I can't really afford it right now. Drove the car today and I can definitely feel the weirdness in power and shifting.
